Because The Nutcracker and The Four Kingdoms, by Lasse Hallström and Joe Johnston, is released on November 28, 2018 in theaters.

The story
At Christmas, Clara, 14, discovers that his mother left him a present before dying. A music box, accompanied by this strange word: "All you need is inside. " Only worry: Clara does not know how to open it. He would need a key. Shortly after, at a sumptuous party organized by his godfather, a mysterious gold thread lead her to that famous key … which disappears suddenly in an astonishing world.
Clara finds herself propelled into this world divided into four kingdoms: that of snowflakes, that of flowers, that of delights … without forgetting that, all gray, disturbing, of Mother Ginger, which makes terror prevail …
Our opinion
The original tale, by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, dates from 1816. It was entitled The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. In 1844, Alexandre Dumas wrote a different version, which later became one of the dance ballets the most famous in the world. Today, it's the Disney studios that are leaning, in their own way, on this fantastic Christmas story. As soon as Clara enters this parallel world, it is a firework of colors that springs on the screen. Fascination wins, so much the sets and costumes are grandiose. It's like Alice in Wonderland, with all these bizarre characters, a little crazy, sometimes endearing, sometimes frightening.
The long classical dance scene is a pure moment of grace, while the attack of the soldiers of Mother Ginger is incredible inventiveness. The film, however, wants to be so original and magical that it loses, at times, its originality and its fairy tale. If the magic Disney does not work as much as we hoped, the course of the heroine we move all the same. Clara struggles to find her key, as well as to bring peace to the four kingdoms. But she is also fighting for herself, to overcome the pain of losing her mother. What to envy to love his parents always stronger !
