Finance: Franco-Ivorian Tidjane Thiam elected "Banker of the Year"

The Franco-Ivorian Tidjane Thiam, General Manager of Credit Suisse has distinguished himself in his field.

He indeed received the title of banker of the year on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in London on the occasion of the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2018. The prize rewards the successful restructuring of the large Swiss bank, as well as the profitability over the last three years led by Mr Thiam

Double consecration for the financial institution that also received the distinction of the best investment bank in emerging markets. At the head of Swiss credit since 2015, Tidjane Thiam started his career in Paris and held several strategic positions in the Ivorian administration.

Graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole des Mines de Paris, he joined McKinsey & Company as a management consultant from 1986 to 1994. From 1994 to 1999, he returned to Côte d'Ivoire as Director General of the National Bureau of Technical Studies and Development (Bnetd), reporting directly to the Prime Minister and to the President. From 1998, he is both President of Bnetd and Minister of Planning and Development.
