Investors & Partners (I & P) and Societe Generale have made the decision to put their expertise at the service of African entrepreneurs. It is the continuation of operational and strategic links for more than fifteen years at the level of funds managed by I & P as portfolio companies.

Societe Generale participated in the first round of the I & P Afrique Entrepreneurs 2 (IPAE 2) fund, launched in December 2017. IPAE 2 aims to invest in 30 to 40 SMEs and startups in sub-Saharan Africa in the next five years. Societe Generale also supports, through its local sectors, four African impact funds sponsored by I & P: Como Capital, Miarakap, Sinergi Burkina and Teranga Capital. The bank plays a role of administrator of these funds, and participates in the Investment Committees and ESG Committees of several of them.

Finally, more than 20 companies financed by I & P capital maintain direct relations with Société Générale for their traditional banking needs. This illustrates the fact that capital and debt investments are complementary and necessary for African SMEs to support their development projects.

Société Générale has also launched an ambitious "Grow With Africa" program to contribute to the sustainable development of the African continent. The multidimensional support of SMEs and the setting up of adapted financing for these companies constitute one of the four pillars of this program built in cooperation with public and private actors including I & P.

Small and medium-sized enterprises are at the heart of the development process of African economies. The continent's population boom requires a new generation of businesses to provide the goods and services that Africans need.

This boom is also essential to create the 500 million jobs needed to absorb the growth of the labor force by 2050. Start-ups and SMEs represent one of the main sources of jobs and a vital vector for ensuring sustainable development and political stability on the continent.
