Facing the deputies, this Thursday, November 29, 2018, the Minister of Justice Ismaila Madior Fall has disqualified from the presidential race the declared candidate of the Senegalese Democratic Party, Karim Wade and that of Taxawu Senegal, Khalifa Sall, in prison.

According to the Minister of Justice, the two declared candidates are disqualified from the electoral race because of their association with the Senegalese Justice.

"The case of Mayor Khalifa Sall, all the people witnessing the trial know full well that he is guilty." When he was shown the hundreds of false bills, he did not deny them, but he said it was a practice that he found well before his arrival. So come here to say that Khalifa is innocent is in vain "

Continuing the minister adds "when the Senegalese courts condemned him, he went to complain to ECOWAS and the latter has in no way said that Senegal has not done justice. But he suggested to the State of Senegal to pay 35 million CFA francs in compensation. And so the final decision has not yet been made and he has not been released. Senegal does not owe him anything ".

However, Ismaila Madior Fall argues that the rejection of presidential candidates "is a commonplace phenomenon in the world. If you have mismanaged the city, justice condemns you.And if the consequence is that you do not be eligible you are not, so you have to keep your reason. "

In the case of Karim Wade, the Penal Code says that the judge must specify that the detainee must lose his civil rights and a judgment of the Crei has already done. So it was not because the Court did not pronounce it in the judgment that Karim Wade may be eligible for the next election

"In Senegal, you must have a clean criminal record to be president in Senegal and you come with a locker to mention a sentence of 6 years to aspire to lead the country. And yet the law says if we lock up a person in Senegal. 6 months, you can not register in the electoral list ", explains the minister.
