Pr. Benoît Ngom, founding president of the Association of African Jurists (Aja), spoke on the Khalifa Sall affair. Guest of the show "Grand Jury" of the Rfm this Sunday, July 22, the lawyer believes that the rights of the mayor of Dakar were violated. And that therefore the decision of the ECOWAS Court of Justice is "a clear decision, which requires no interpretation".

Concerning the release of Khalifa Sall, the lawyer notes that "There is another problem legal situation. According to him, the city of Dakar should benefit from his parliamentary immunity since he was elected deputy. And the question arises: "Can the National Assembly, by voluntary or involuntary inaction, in such cases, not demand the freedom of the deputy Khalifa Sall"?

Moreover, Benoît Ngom has revealed that the human rights situation in Africa, in general, has not experienced "a very great evolution". Because, he adds, "the individual is not considered in many African countries."

Faced with this situation, the founding president of the Association of African Jurists (Aja), believes that the activists human rights must also work to shape public opinion. This, by "giving the citizen precise information so that he can have his own judgment". Because, for him, the discourse goes in all directions sometimes, and one does not focus on certain things.

However, considering all this, Benoît Ngom thinks that, in the case of Senegal, Efforts have been made "unquestionably."
