Macron asks companies to "implement" voted reforms

"We speak in our country only of law, and very little of the implementation. But what counts is the concrete action " launched Emmanuel Macron to dozens of bosses sitting in the audience. Among them were Stéphane Richard, the boss of Orange, Guillaume Pépy, that of the SNCF, but also Michel-Edouard Leclerc or Alexander Bompard, the boss of Carrefour.

"Country that breaks"

Emmanuel Macron reminded them "that a country can not succeed when only a few succeed" . And "we can not live sustainably in a country that is fracturing ". A barely veiled allusion to the political situation of the United Kingdom.

To get young people, and not so young, out of chronic unemployment that affects disadvantaged neighborhoods or territories in difficulty, companies must "take their part" to use an expression of the head of the State. Because if emancipation goes through work, as Emmanuel Macron likes to remind, companies must still create jobs. Hence the insistence of the Elysee so that hirings, including apprentices, also develop in these territories and not only in large cities.

No quantified objectives

Tuesday, these are the companies that are already active on the subject who have spoken. The CEOs of Danone, La Poste, BNP Paribas and Total have presented employment integration initiatives specific to their company.

The executive did not want to set quantified targets for jobs to create. The President of the Republic has nevertheless announced that he intends to meet the same companies every six months at the Elysee Palace to make progress points. Emmanuel Macron also confirmed that testing operations to measure discrimination in hiring would be conducted in 40 large companies to start from September. Over three years, all SBF 120 companies will have undergone this kind of controls.
