Dakar, July 23 (APS) – Senegalese international referee Malang Diédhiou, who announced his retirement last Thursday, told APS that his only regret is that he has never whistled a match between Sports from Ziguinchor to AS Customs

"I would have given everything to officiate this meeting but the authority never wanted to put me on this meeting," said the Senegalese customs officer, a native of Badiana, in southern Senegal. [19659002]

The worst he said is that he never arbitrated either Casa-Sports or AS Douanes, said Malang Diédhiou, adding that he "never understood" the reasons that led the Commission Central Referees (CCA) to refuse to nominate him for the games of these two big arms of Senegalese football.

Malang Diédhiou, celebrated on Sunday by the Bessire nationals (south) in Dakar, said he was convinced that he had officiated "without any concern" a duel between Casa-Sports and AS Douanes. [19659002]

"I thought that Guèye (Amadou François Guèye president of the CCA) would designate me last season on this poster, but it's a shame, I went to retirement without having the opportunity to whistle such meeting, "he insisted.

Aged 45, Malang Diédhiou announced last Thursday his decision to end his career, at a party offered to his honor by the National Association of Football Referees of Senegal (ANAFS).

Invited to mention his sorrows or regrets in the arbitration, he recalled an international match between Cote d'Ivoire and Gabon.

"In a scramble, I forgot to whistle a penalty kick when a defender played his opponent's foot before touching the ball," he said, pointing out he had seen the blame after watching of the match.

"It was a mistake but it was not obvious at the time," he said, assuring that moments of joy far outweighed periods of loneliness during his career

He mentioned his appointment for the 2018 World Cup and the return legs of the two finals of the African Champions League 2016 and 2017, "moments of consecration" for the Senegalese customs officer who now plans to devote himself exclusively to his profession.
