(Agence Ecofin) – Since November 27, 2018, the mobile operator Malitel, branch of the Société des télécommunications du Mali (Sotelma), offers 4G to its subscribers. The company has not lost much time to join Orange in this growing market segment. The incumbent operator marks its entry into the high-speed mobile broadband segment, nearly a month after the authorization granted by the government on October 24 to offer telecom services on this technology.

The launch of Malitel's 4G comes eleven months after the entry of the mobile operator Orange in this market. Although the subsidiary of the French telecom group has taken a certain lead over its competitor, the latter remains confident about its ability to catch up quickly. To this end, he counts on a large-scale conquest strategy conceived by Malitel. According to its managing director, Adel Aziz Biddine, the company has ensured that the new service will be accessible immediately in Bamako and other parts of the country.

" The launch of Malitel's 4G emanates from a global strategy to improve our services and meet the needs of our customers "Said Adel Aziz Biddine.

The government had fixed the price of the 4G license at 100 billion FCFA.

Telecel Mali remains the only company to offer 3G in the country.
