Many tributes to Bertolucci, but a shadow on the board

He was one of the last giants of Italian cinema. Bernardo Bertolucci, who died on Monday, was celebrated by many actors and directors, all remembering his masterpieces as 1900, the Last Emperor, Stolen Beauty or The Last Tango in Paris.

A film, by the way, that marked the spirits with a scene of rape on the actress Maria Schneider, scene that still causes controversy today.

Nevertheless, Antonio Banderas, Guillermo Del Toro, Alfonso Cuaron, all went for their homage.

The filmmaker's body was exposed to the mayor of Rome on Tuesday, and in the midst of many anonymous actress Stefania Sandrelli, who played in The Conformist in 1970, came to pay tribute to him: "He really extended my hand and made me take a step forward."

"He always tackled important and difficult topics, he always said things with a lot of ideological freedom, and yet he managed to keep this lightness," said Mario Martone, director.

"He wrote with the camera, and told a story not in a normal, traditional way, but rather by looking for the poetry of a story," adds Vittorio Storaro, director of photography.

In France, many tributes also, from Fanny Ardant, or from Thierry Frémeaux, General Delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, of which Bertolucci had chaired the jury in 1990.
