Tunisia coach Nabil Maaloul has been named coach of Qatari club Al-Duhail, the emirate's defending champion said on Thursday. Maaloul, head of Tunisia since April 2017 and who will turn 56 at the end of the month, replaces Djamel Belmadi, who could be named at the head of the selection of Algeria. The club said that Maaloul was already on his way to Austria to find players in pre-season training.

Earlier in the day, the Tunisian Federation announced that it was accepting Maaloul's request to put an end to its mandate. The technician led Tunisia to the World Cup finals for the first time since 2006. In Russia, Tunisians won a match against Panama (2-1) and finished third in their pool after two defeats against England (1-2) and Belgium (2-5).
