The Orange Côte d'Ivoire telephone operator launched a new Orange Money withdrawal and payment card on Tuesday, July 10.
This is a new solution for fast and secure payment from the mobile money account making transactions in the zone of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA). It offers an alternative for customers to make transactions in ATM ATMs (ATMs) / ATMs.
According to Marius Yao, CEO of the company, "this card will allow customers over 21 years to pay for purchases in stores and outlets equipped with an electronic payment terminal and to purchase items on the Internet. "
In partnership with Visa and the Atlantic Bank, Orange Côte d ' Ivory is thus the first operator to offer this innovation in the telecom sector.
According to its officials, "in the first quarter of 2018, the operator posted a transaction worth around 13 billion FCFA per day and an electronic money in circulation amounting to CFAF 93.5 billion ". Today, "it records about 15 billion FCFA transactions per day for more than 6 million customers."
As a reminder, the Orange Group has more than 30 million customers in Africa. Its Orange Money service is present in 17 countries and Côte d'Ivoire becomes the first subsidiary of West Africa and the third African subsidiary to offer this electronic payment card, after Botswana and Cameroon.
