Our mango exports have never been banned in Europe.

For the United States, the only constraint we have is related to the requirement of fumigation (chemical treatment against fruit flies) which is a practice not yet used by Senegal

Senegal does not yet export mango to the United States.

On the other hand, what really happened was that most countries, including Senegal, had received notifications following noted interceptions on the sanitary quality of certain consignments in 2016. This is a procedure quite acceptable since such practices require a rapid response by the communication of a new document. control plan involving all the actors of the value chain.

It is in this sense that the DPV organized a workshop of sharing and raising awareness on the new control device with a lot of Innovations including the presence of plant health inspectors in packing centers and the requirement for each exporters to register at their database. This new device has been communicated to the European side and export operations are going as desired. The proof, between yesterday and today, our technical services have instructed and delivered more than thirty certificates of origin for mango mainly exported to Europe (France, Holland, Spain, Belgium, Germany). [19659002] Finally, according to a study conducted by PACMS, as at 30 September 2017, the total volume of mangoes exports amounted to 17 168 tonnes for all destinations (Europe, subregion and other destinations) compared to 15 048 tonnes on the same date in 2015 and 16 704 tonnes in 2016.

This volume represents 10 billion CFA francs

The 2017 export campaign in a few figures:

12 902 tonnes (75%) of mango were sent to the European Union compared to 10,029 tonnes in 2016, an increase compared to the last three export seasons. From 2000 to 2017, the volumes exported to the EU multiplied by 16 in 18 seasons with an average annual growth rate of 19% from 2000 to 2017.

4,266 tonnes of mango shipped outside Europe including:

3,011 tonnes exported to Mauritania / Morocco (18%) and 1,255 tonnes to Ghana (7%)
