The preparatory meeting of the Congress of Liberal International began yesterday at the King Fahd Palace Hotel. The ceremony opened in the absence of the liberal leaders who executed their will to boycott this meeting yesterday dedicated to the liberal youth. The paradox was the presence at this meeting of young people of the Pds and Rewmi who took the opposite of their political leaders, President Abdoulaye Wade, Secretary General of the Pds, and Idrissa Seck, boss of Rewmi.
The joy of the Coordinator of the Convergence of Republican Youth (Cojer) could be understood, who says he worked to convince young people to put forward liberalism to agree to discuss with their other "comrades".
"At the level of young people, the Pds and Remwi are here," said Mrs. Thérèse Faye not without reminding that "these young people have understood the stakes of the moment by agreeing to participate in this first day of the International Liberal which is dedicated. "
21st century liberalism, state of play, migration: the response of liberalism and the digital economy are the three themes discussed at this meeting which was an opportunity for the boss of the Cojer to reaffirm the anchoring of President Macky Sall to liberalism.
If Senegal has come to be designated to host this congress, Ms. Thérèse stressed that the country owes this privilege to the coalition of Benno Bokk yaakaar (Bby) that President Macky Sall managed to set up by allowing the "liberals to be able to evolve in the same frame with other political currents like socialism to take care of the concerns of the Senegalese Nation ".
The president of the Cojer has denied a guéguerre between Liberals to say that "what happens is unpublished in the history of Senegal and even Africa. The Liberals and the Socialists meet to go towards the construction of Senegal. If there were not these signals, the liberal International was not going to choose Senegal to host this congress ".
She added: "Today liberalism has its place, it is up to us to reinforce this ideology", in the presence of former ministers under Abdoulaye Wade, namely Mr. Ousmane Ngom, Modou Diagne Fada among others.
