One of the flagship activities of the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) is Seasonal Malaria Chemoprophylaxis (SPC). This activity is largely funded by the Global Fund and Malaria-Consortium. The Malaria Consortium aims to protect more than 740,000 children aged 3 to 59 months in 16 health districts in Chad.

The SPC is to give this age group sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine and amodiaquine (SP-AQ), an effective and preventive therapeutic combination to protect this highly vulnerable layer during the 4 months of high malaria transmission during pregnancy. the rainy season.

The launch of Malaria-Consortium support took place this morning, Tuesday, July 24 in the sixth district of N'Djamena in the presence of the Mayor, the adviser of the governor of the city of N'Djamena, advisers municipal director, the Malaria-Consortium country director and his staff, the district chief, the NMCP coordinator, and other authorities. The population was also massively present.

The NMCP coordinator, speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Public Health, praised the initiative promoted by Malaria-Consortium and scaled its program. He invited the population to join this saving and protective campaign "of these angels who are Chadian children". He also recalled the confirmed usefulness of the use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets which should not be forgotten, including those children protected by SP-AQ that will be given every month for 3 days and for 4 months.
