AUTOMOBILE – The year 2018 marks a record for the PSA Maroc group (Citroën, DS Automobiles, Peugeot and Opel). With its development strategy in the Middle East and Africa, its sales turnover has doubled compared to 2015 to reach a total of nearly € 700 million last year, announces the group in a statement.
To achieve this global sourcing, PSA Maroc has relied on the ecosystem of the group that is in the region and in Europe. "In Morocco, more than 63 supplier sites supply the PSA Group's plants, including 27 in Greenfield," the document added.
Launch of production in Kenitra this year
"The commitments made publicly by the PSA Group 3 years ago are being met and exceeded thanks to the launch of the Kenitra site this year," said Jean-Christophe Quemard, executive vice president for the Middle East and Africa regions.
The Kenitra plant will produce engines and vehicles for the 4 brands of PSA Maroc, Citroën, DS Automobiles, Peugeot and Opel. The first goal is set at 100,000 vehicles a year. From 2020, the group "will see its production capacity increased to 200,000 vehicles per year".
