Those who hold the cheese concerned are asked not to consume it and to bring it back to the point of sale where it was purchased. Foodborne illness caused by Salmonella results in gastrointestinal disturbances often accompanied by fever within 48 hours after consumption of contaminated products.
These symptoms may be aggravated in young children, immunocompromised individuals and the elderly. The health authorities recall that, as a precaution, raw milk and raw milk cheeses should not be eaten by young children, pregnant women and immunocompromised persons. People who have consumed these cheeses and who have these symptoms, are advised to consult their doctor by indicating this consumption. Fromagerie La Tournette has made available to consumers a call number, the 0800 94 01 64, reachable from Guadeloupe, every day until 14h.
