The Directorate General of the Airports Agency of Senegal (ADS) began a reflection to define, in a concerted manner, the new priorities of management of regional airports in order to make Dakar an air hub.

The Director General of the Airports Agency of Senegal (ADS), Pope Mael Diop, said that since the cessation of activities at the Leopold Sedar Senghor airport, they had to regroup all the different actors to reflect on a vast program of renovation of regional airports for a budget of 100 billion FCFA. He was speaking yesterday in Dakar during a day of reflection. For him, it is important for the first phase to start thinking with airport commanders and staff about certain aspects, including financial, commercial and technical aspects. "That's why we organized this day of reflection on the action plan for the sustainable and orderly development of regional airports. It will allow us to make concrete proposals to the authority, "said Pope Mael. And to continue: "for a revival of the activities of the regional airports, all the human and material means must be put to contribution". According to him, the objective is to define, in a concerted manner, the action plan to be carried out in order to maintain the competitive advantages of our country in the subregion in terms of airport management and to make Dakar an air hub. Mr. Diop recalled the regional airports, characterized by low traffic, almost zero resources and outdated infrastructure and equipment, were hitherto financed by revenues from the activities of the management of Dakar airport. At the 1 era National Conference on Planning and Attractiveness of the Territory, organized by the Ministry of Territorial Governance, Development and Spatial Planning (MGTDAT), Macky Sall announced the launch of a series of secondary airport rehabilitations in Saint-Louis, Matam-Ourossogui, Ziguinchor, Tambacounda and Kedougou. To this will follow those of Kolda, Sedhiou and, later, the track of Kaolack.
