The renewable energy production company, Lekela, announces that it has finalized the financing agreement for its Taiba Ndiaye wind farm project in Senegal. In a statement to our editorial office, Lekela said that the construction of the country's first public utility wind farm, which will begin soon, will provide 158.7 MW of clean, reliable and competitively priced energy to the local grid in full Expansion

"Once the project is operational in less than two years, it will provide more than 450,000 MWh of annual energy to more than 2 million people," reads the note we hold copy. And the same source added: "46 Vestas wind turbines will be built each of which is capable of producing 3.45 MW."

This project is an essential element of the Government of Senegal's strategy to increase the production of clean electricity , diversify the country's energy mix and guarantee the financial accessibility of energy. The main objective of this program is to create sustainable livelihoods for communities by improving agriculture and offering vocational training opportunities to young people, but also creating 400 jobs. On this occasion, Massaer Cissé, General Manager of the Taïba Ndiaye Wind Farm, explained that the said park will have an impact that will continue for several generations.

According to him, the company's portfolio includes more than 1 300 megawatts split between projects in Egypt, Ghana, South Africa and Senegal. For Chris Antonopoulos, Director General of Lekela, Taiba Ndiaye is the last step in their plan to deliver the best clean energy projects across Africa.
