It is a jewel of architecture that will be presented again to the public: the imperial theater of Fontainebleau whose second phase of restoration will be completed soon. A major project that required twelve years of work and ten million euros of funding, thanks to the generosity of the President of the United Arab Emirates to safeguard this architectural masterpiece of the Second Empire. It took five years of study by curators and architects to carry out this ambitious work, decided in two phases. The first was completed in April 2014, focusing on the restoration of the hall, the theater lobby and the imperial foyer.

The second, which is currently being completed, concerns the restoration of the stage, the machinery, the peripheral areas and the upper levels. It was necessary to preserve the original materials (80% of them could be), whether for painted decorations or furniture. The result is bluffing, as it seems that it has just been created. And we remember his story, when he was initiated by Napoleon III during his first trip to Fontainebleau. It was built between 1853 and 1854 by Hector Lefuel and inaugurated in 1857. A room with 400 seats, upholstered silks, flowery carpets and gilded ornaments, unique decorations in France that recall those of the theater of Marie Antoinette to Trianon, one of the sources of inspiration of Lefuel at the time.
