Imprisoned in February for attempted homicide and kidnapping, Villarreal player Ruben Semedo will be released on parole once his € 30,000 clause has been paid.

According to the Spanish daily Marca, Ruben Semedo, placed in pre-trial detention since February 22 at the Picassent prison, south of Valencia, will be released from prison in the coming days. His new lawyer, Miguel Ferrer, would have convinced the judge of instructions of Valencia to put the player on parole against the payment of his clause of 30 000 euros, which will be done by credit card. The Villarreal defender was suspected of attempted homicide, assault, threats, kidnapping, illegal possession of weapons and theft with violence. He allegedly "tied up, beaten and kidnapped" a man at his home near Valencia with the help of two accomplices. However, his release imposes some restrictions. The Portuguese must not leave Spain and is forbidden to approach his victim within 300 meters, he will have to avoid the places frequented by the latter. In addition, he will have to go to court every week to confirm his place of residence. Since his incarceration, the player's employment contract has been suspended by his club, so he did not receive any salary. The 24-year-old from Sporting Portugal sees his future in football darken dramatically as a result of this affair.
