A contract to increase the production capacity of the Tinhert gas fields located in the wilaya of Illizi, was signed Tuesday in Algiers between the subsidiary ENGCB (national civil engineering company and building) group Sonatrach and the British engineering company. Petrofac hydrocarbons.
This is a contract for the construction of a compression separation center and utilities upstream of the existing gas complex for the connection of 36 wells of gas fields in the North (Tinhert) said the central director of the Engineering & Project Management (EPM) of Sonatrach, Faiz Zane.
Production from the 36 wells will be channeled to the new separation and compression units and then to the existing gas complex in Ohanet, located in the Illizi wilaya, Zane added.
Planned for the month of December 2023, this project, amounting to 70 billion DA (600 million dollars), is expected to achieve a cumulative production of four (4) million m3 / day of gas for sale, 450 tonnes / day of LPG and 750 tonnes / day of condensate.
The objective of this project is to increase gas production with a daily input of raw gas of the order of 4.7 million m3 / day.
It also targets the treatment of all raw gas at the Ohanet plant through the management of CO2 and mercury.
The project to be completed will include, off-site, including a collection network for the connection of 36 wells and a surface installation at the wells.
The new separation and compression center (CSC) will consist of two inlet separators, a condensate separator, a decarbonation unit, a production water treatment unit and utilities (evaporation pond, sewage treatment unit, drinking water production unit, fire prevention system, ect).
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Abdelghani Bendjebba, CEO of ENGCB, highlighted the importance of a project that, according to him, was part of Sonatrach's new strategy (HS 2030). which aims, among other things, to achieve a national integration rate of 55% by 2030.
As such, Bendjebba indicated that "this is the first time that the ENGCB has been entrusted with a major project."
For his part Mr. Zane said that to carry out this project with the British Petrofac and GCB was a "challenge". According to him, there is a commitment from all parties to complete this project on time, or even "well before".
For his part, Petrofac's CEO, Aymen Asfari, emphasized the importance of this project. He also emphasized Petrofac's commitment to continue its investments in Algeria.
Petrofac, he recalled existed in Algeria for more than 21 years and had completed nearly 14 projects worth more than 7 billion dollars.
Asked at the end of the signing ceremony, whether Petrofac intends to launch projects as part of the development of offshore drilling activity in Algeria, his first official said it was still too early to On this subject, since Algeria has so far only launched preliminary studies, it has nevertheless argued that Petrofac is interested in this area.
