The situation is more than ever worrying in the factory of the Senegalese Sugar Company of Richard-Toll.
In the sugar capital, the workers grouped together in the various trade union organizations, stepped up to denounce with the last energy the incomprehensible attitude of the Minister of Commerce who betrayed their confidence by issuing authorizations to import sugar for 70,000 tons.
During a general sensitization and information meeting, the College of Delegates, the Friends of Women Workers and the people of the sugar city rose to say no to this unpopular decision of Minister Alioune Sarr.
Faced with the press, Makhary Samb alias Poker, Secretary General of the CNTS section of the CSS, said that 6,500 jobs are threatened by this decision of the Minister of Commerce. And Mr. Samb to continue to make public understand that authorizing the import of 70,000 tons of sugar, within 7 months the company may have serious problems to cope. That's why he invited people to mobilize to stop this economic drift.
In the presence of factory officials, the general secretary of the CNTS section of the CSS, has suggested that bigwigs, with the complicity of some officials, try to turn our country into a souk, thus attempting to destabilize our industrial fabric and throw the workers into precariousness.
In this regard, he continued, the coalition of trade union centers (Section Css), composed of Cnts, Unsas, Cnts / Fc, Csa and Udts, will bring the whole response necessary and appropriate to protect and sustain jobs.
Taking the floor, Louis Lamotte, drew the attention of the authorities on the catastrophic economic situation prevailing in the North region.
In Mr. Lamotte's opinion, it is imperative to mobilize all energies to solve these problems and to help President Macky Sall, who has a special interest in agriculture and employment, to accomplish the mission. which devolves to it, consisting in making Senegal an emerging country.
All this collective, supported by the women's associations, the breeders, the chiefs of the villages bordering the Css, the delegates of the districts of the city of Richard Toll decided to march next Saturday to denounce the importation of 70.000 tons which puts in peril lives many thousands of people in Walo.
