ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast, 21 December 2018 / – The Minister of Petroleum, Energy and Renewable Energies, Mr. Abdourahmane Cissé, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Adama Koné, the Secretary of State at of the Prime Minister in charge of the Budget and State Portfolio, Moussa Sanogo, and Atinkou General Manager Bernard N'Guessan Kouassi, in the presence of the Managing Director of Groupe Eranove (www.Eranove.com), Mr Marc Albérola, signed Wednesday, December 19, 2018, the concession agreement for the financing, design, implementation, operation and maintenance of a new power plant, called Atinkou, which means the house of light in the Ebrié language, in the town of Jacqueville near Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

This Atinkou power plant is in line with the one developed by Ciprel, a flagship of the Eranove Group and a leading operator of electricity production in Côte d'Ivoire. With an installed capacity of 390 MW, Atinkou – also called Ciprel 5 with reference to the four units of this plant operated since 1994 – will use the "combined cycle" gas-steam technology that increases energy efficiency. In addition, Atinkou will achieve a technological leap by introducing the first class F gas turbines in sub-Saharan Africa. These innovations will make it possible to produce more electricity without additional gas consumption. The cost of producing electricity is thus optimized and the environment preserved by reducing the release of CO2 into the atmosphere.

The location of the power station in Jacqueville also reflects the authorities' desire to generate industrial activities outside the economic capital Abidjan, in order to create jobs and better geographically distribute the economic development of the country with, in perspective, the creation of great Abidjan. Thus, this Atinkou / Ciprel 5 project represents 2,500 direct jobs in the construction phase and 100 direct jobs in the exploitation phase.

"This plant is part of the government's desire to strengthen the power generation capacity in the region through new units entrusted to experienced private partners to enable Côte d'Ivoire to double its energy capacity. by reaching 4,000 MW by 2020 and consolidating its position as an energy "hub" in the region, "explains the Minister of Petroleum, Energy and Renewable Energies, Mr. Abdourahmane Cissé.

This project will rely on the expertise and experience acquired by the Eranove Group, particularly through its subsidiary Ciprel. Created in 1994, Ciprel is the largest independent electricity producer (IPP) in West Africa and the largest in the WAEMU zone. In February 2016, His Excellency Mr. Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, inaugurated the fourth installment of the Ciprel power station consisting of a new turbine and the combined gas-steam cycle increasing the installed capacity from 321 to 556 megawatts (MW). With the Ciprel power plant and Atinkou power plant, the pan-African industrial group Eranove confirms its leading position with nearly 1 GW of IPP production capacity, for a total of 1,640 MW, including the seven hydroelectric and thermal power plants operated by the CIE. .

"The rise of the Eranove Group both as an independent producer and as the delegated manager of public services in the water and electricity sectors reflects the strength of our industrial capacities, particularly characterized by the mastery of the combined gas-steam cycle. , the strength of our model based on African expertise and skills and the quality of our relations with the authorities of Côte d'Ivoire that we want to thank here, "said Marc Albérola, CEO of Groupe Eranove.
