The national carrier "TUNISAIR" has launched a consultation for the choice of a consulting firm or a consultant to assist in the realization of a transaction "Sale and Leaseback" on 5 Airbus aircraft type "A320 Neo ", Reported Wednesday the stock market intermediary, Mena Capital Partners (MCP).

In fact, the "Sale & Leaseback" is a financial transaction, in which a company sells an asset (planes, hotels, buildings, etc.) and resumes it for a long time. The airline could, thus, continue to exploit it but it no longer owns it, at least until the end of the lease, said MCP.

This technique could allow TUNISAIR to continue to use the devices subject to the "Leaseback" while bailing out its cash. The company is, however, required to pay rent at regular intervals.

The Secretary of State to the Minister of Transport, Sarah Rejeb had declared during a plenary session, held on February 13, 2018, at the Assembly of the Representatives of the People (ARP), that Tunisair negotiates with the company Airbus, the means to advance the delivery time of 5 category aircraft (A320 neo) no later than 2019 or 2020, while the planned date, according to the agreement concluded in 2008, between the two companies is 2021 ".

Meanwhile, Tunisair CEO Elyès Mnakbi announced in June 2018 that the airline has abandoned its program to acquire the aircraft, while saying that the airline's strategy will focus, soon, on the rental planes, thus adopting a policy that adapts to its financial conditions. And to add that Tunisair also suffers from other difficulties, including the lack of planes, with a fleet of 28 aircraft.
