What you need to know about the 2018 edition of the Carthage Theatrical Days

From December 8 to 16, Tunisians have an appointment with the theater. The 20th edition of Carthage Theatrical Days is an opportunity to see 11 selected theatrical plays (9 Arab and 2 African) for the official competition.

These pieces are:

– "Jew" (Tunisia)
– "Taqacim Ala El hayet" (Iraq)
– "Dhekira kassira" (Tunisia)
– "In the loneliness of cotton fields" (Guinea)
– "Abath" (Morocco)
– "Al saâa al akhira" (Egypt)
– "Tasshih alwan" (Syria)
– "A body and scream" (Togo)
– "Yawmiyet addat ila al jounoun" (Kuwait)
– "Al majnoun" (United Arab Emirates)
– "Hamlet baâd hin" (Jordan)

Carthage Theatrical Days includes five prizes: the Best Work Award, the Director's Award, the Theatrical Text Award, the Best Actress Award and the Best Actor Award.
Parallel prizes will be awarded: UGTT Prize for Best Technique, SNJT "Najiba Hamrouni" Prize for Freedom of Expression, and the CONECT Prize for the Promotion and Encouragement of Young Cultural Promoters.

At the press conference, held Wednesday at the City of Culture, the chairman of the commission for the screening of plays, Raouf Ben Amor said that the commission received 150 applications including 70 representations were retained.
Ben Amor pointed out that the level of the pieces remains however average stressing moreover that the commission wanted to keep the best pieces according to the criteria of the quality of the creation, the text, the interpretation, the light, the decoration and the music.
