Algerian novelist Yasmina Khadra has been named Honorary President of the Quebec International Book Fair (SILQ) in Canada, Radio Canada reported on Thursday, November 29, 2018 on its website.
Yasmina Khadra was born in 1955 in Kenadsa in the province of Bechar (southwestern Algeria). His works have been translated into more than 40 languages. He has received prestigious awards, including the Grand Prix Henri Gal Literature awarded by the French Academy in 2011. He was also made Knight of the Legion of Honor (France).
"The Angels are dying of our wounds", "The attack" and "Swallows of Kabul", "What are wolves dreaming about", "The Sirens of Baghdad", "What the day owes to the night" and "L 'Autumn of chimeras' are his main works. Many of his books have been adapted to the cinema.
He will be in Quebec City from April 10th to 14th for the next edition of SILQ.
