Dakar, July 26 (APS) – More than 4,000 people were screened during the week of young AIDS, including a majority of adolescents and youth in the 14 regions of the country, said Alassane Diallo, Director of the Youth Promotion Project (PPJ) at the Ministry of Youth, Citizen Construction and Promotion of Volunteering.



"Of the 14 regions, 13 were able, despite the difficulties
related to the beginning of wintering, to deploy advanced strategies followed by screenings to reach a workforce of 4,051 people including 2,836 aged 15 to 2 years, 1057 aged between 25 and 49 and 158 over the age of 49, representing a performance rate of 96.45% ", said the director of the PPJ.

Alassane Diallo spoke at a press briefing results of the week young AIDS which took place 21 to 28 June in partnership with the National Council against AIDS (CNLS) on the theme: "The achievement of 90-90-90 by: c is possible with a responsible, civic and voluntary youth. "



According to him," compared to the results of last year,
we recorded more than 20,000 young sensitized and a decrease in the number of positive cases, either 18 cases against 36 cases in 2017. "

These results confirm, the director of the PPJ, "the feminization of HIV which remains a reality with 12 women against 6 women."



"Only the region of Kaffrine could not run its activities during the week. Dakar leads with 457 screened people, including 2 positive cases, Kaolack with 447 screened people, including 3 positive cases, Ziguinchor with 427 screened people, none of whom had a positive case, Thiès with 401 screened people including 2 positive cases, Louga 321 screened people including one
positive case among others, "he added.



Returning to the objectives of the week, he said that" he
is to sensitize the authorities of the youth sector on the the need to ensure the sustainability of HIV prevention for adolescents and young people, to bring together youth associations and networks to integrate screening and awareness-raising activities on HIV and to regularly promote voluntary, anonymous and prenuptial screening among young people among others "



According to Mr. Diallo, the young AIDS week was launched in Ziguinchor because of its border position, its prevalence rate higher than the average. national (1%) because of the mobility of the population but also to receive the Adolescent Counseling Center refurbished by the Ministry of Health.
