According to Christian teachings, the message of Christmas was introduced by the example of Jesus Christ, who would have spent 40 days in the desert fasting and praying. Interestingly, the Christmas post did not always last 40 days. This decision was made at the Universal Assembly in 1166, until the Christmas post lasts only seven days.
At the same assembly, the possibility of a "small post" of only seven days was established by Christians who, for some reason, such as health, are not able to fully respect the 40 days .

The Church is obliged to commemorate Christmas and the Christians who, for some reason, did not obey the fast.
Orthodox Christians, with their free will, decide whether they will carry out a business whose purpose is to purify the soul and body, abstaining from certain foods in a bad mood, bad thoughts and bad deeds.
Do not make mistakes! This must be known to you – unlike the body post, which is not obligatory, it is a spiritual and important post in this 40-day period, and in the opinion of many Orthodox believers even more important!
He fast on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Christmas. Tuesdays and Thursdays, seasons and wine are solved, as are Saturdays and Sundays and fish. The fish is still solved in Vavedenje.
From December 20 to 24, the post office becomes more difficult and no release of fish. The fastest job is December 24, Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve.
In parts of Vojvodina, it is common for a Christmas post to start on the water the first week, then go to the ceremony and usually continue with fasting.
