Brooke attempted in 1981 to prevent the subsequent use of these photographs, but the US court ruled that she was bound by the terms of the contract and, what is even more shocking, that these images did not violate the laws on child pornography. The rights to these paintings were purchased by the American artist Richard Prins in 1992, who reproduced the scene and called it "The Spiritual America".
In 1999, his version was sold for $ 151,000. Then, in 2009, the photo was removed from the Tate Modern Gallery in London, where it was kept for a decade.
– The photo is notorious since I made it, as I had planned, – said Geri Gros, his original photographer died from a heart attack in 2010.
