The president of the Crvena Zvezda basketball club, Nebojsa Covic, commented on the Star's participation in the most prestigious European competition, which will be extended to 18 clubs from next season.
In the current state of things, A licenses have been won by Bayern Munich and France Asvel with Tony Parker, while the ABA League will remain with a representative in Euroleague.
– I do not think the ABA league has been forgotten, but it has been unjustly reduced to one place, while the whole region had previously three places in the elite competition. I consider that it is a "merit" of the time of the ABA Sidro League. This is a problem and the other is that the region obviously can not yet respect certain financial and structural standards defined by the Euroleague. – said Covic.

Asvel and Bayern will have an A license, which many have declared earlier in the year to "belong to" red and white. Nevertheless, Covic reveals that such a thing was not very close.
– It was about ten million euros, I say. The red star has infrastructural conditions and Belgrade is a big city, but the market should be introduced in the whole account. Bayern and Asvel have come in, and you know, Germany and France are big markets in terms of the number of people, but also from the point of view of television rights, which our region obviously does not represent yet, unfortunately.
Covic adds that preferring Star as Fajnal for Belgrade does not make sense.
– I tell you, the star was about ten million euros. This media stupidity has also been created. So I have to say that the Star of the last season was supposed to be at the Financial Hall, that all this was due to the Star … Europe and Euroleague do not suffer such behavior. The star has achieved excellent results, even in a new format that can in no way be compared to the old system by group according to the weight – Nebojsa Covic is clear.
