Employees of the Azotara Mineral Fertilizer Plant gathered in the factory circle and await a meeting with Srbijagas Director, Dusan Bajatovic, whose company is the largest creditor and depend on the strike, said the president of the Independent Union of Gradisa Zivanovic.
"We are not yet on strike to be announced, the workers are gathering spontaneously today and want to hear what the director of Srbijagas will tell them," Zivanovic told Beta news agency.
At the beginning of July, "Azotara" went bankrupt because, as the relevant ministries claimed, there was a lot of debt.
Workers, about 900 of them are unhappy because, according to Zivanovic, they want to work even though they have been offered a social program of three models, so that they can choose to take 200 euros per year of service, a third of an employee's earnings, and employees with more than 15 years of service are offered six average salaries in Serbia.
The severance pay on the first and second models shall not exceed 8,000 euros.
The Ministry of Economy, as Zivanovic said, has granted an additional amount of 100 euros per year of service, provided that the total amount does not exceed 12,000 euros.
Workers sent a letter last week to President Aleksandar Vucic, Prime Minister Ani Brnabic and the provincial government asking them to avoid the bankruptcy of the factory and to "find another solution" .
