Chant on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Unesco

In 2016, the Ministry of Culture and Information recommended to the relevant committee of experts the appointment of a gusle on the list of UNESCO.

The nomination dossier was prepared by the Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Ethnographic Museum of Belgrade, in cooperation with the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, with the support of the Association Serbian gusle associations, personalities, local authorities, institutions, non-governmental organizations and professional associations.

Singing with the Gusle is the third inscription of the Republic of Serbia on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO. The inscriptions ensure better international visibility and the communities are encouraged to actively contribute to the preservation and transmission of the selected element of their heritage.
