The National Strategy for Traffic Safety predicts that after 2020 no child will be in traffic. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to include all relevant institutions that can influence the reduction of negative statistics, as concluded the first National Conference on the safety of children traveling to Monday in Novi Sad.
– The conference brought together all the institutions and institutions concerned in the same place, with the aim of improving the coordination of all services and reducing the number of children in the traffic. It is necessary that we all be on the same task and that we work to sensitize the parents to the use of the car seat. At this conference, the first problem was that of transporting children with intellectual disabilities and the question of whether the use of the car seat could be ignored – said Marijana Jovanović in front of the Center for the promotion of road safety, the organizer of the conference.
As part of the conference, the Agency for Road Safety donated 20 car seats to Novi Sad, with the idea of distributing associations to interested parties.
– Until now, this pilot project has joined the SOS taxi. Novi Sad will have the opportunity to call this taxi from December 15 to request a car with car seat and transport the children safely and by taxi. We also invite other taxi associations to demonstrate social responsibility and to stick to this action – Jovanovic added that, in the coming period, they would also train taxis of associations wishing to properly place a seat in their car.
In order to raise public awareness of the importance of child safety in traffic jams, in the territory of Novi Sad, with the help of the City Traffic Administration, 16,000 pupils are enrolled from the first to the fourth year.
– We need to make society aware of the training of children and parents so that in five or ten years people will behave in a more normal way and use every means possible to enhance road safety – in charge of traffic and roads.
At a conference organized by the Center for the Promotion of Road Safety, in cooperation with the Agency for Road Safety of the Republic of Serbia and the Municipal Administration of Transport of the city of Novi Sad, representatives of the Directorate of Traffic Police of the Ministry of Health, Children's Surgery and Physiatry, Emergency Relief, Public Health of Serbia, representative of the Protector of Citizens, as well as representatives of the local self-governments and the Nursing and Nursing Service of Serbia, is the best way to make parents aware of the importance of using the car seat.
