On that day, Josip Broz Tito, Secretary-General of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia and Supreme Commander of the National Liberation Army and detachments of supporters of Yugoslavia, was proclaimed Marshal of Yugoslavia.

Today, when I become a pioneer,
I give the honorable word pioneer
that I will teach and work diligently,
respect the parents and the elderly,
and be a faithful and honest friend,
who holds this word.
That I will love our autonomous homeland
Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia,
that I will develop fraternity and unity
and ideas for which Tito was fighting;
that I will appreciate all the peoples of the world
who want freedom and peace!
The last time this holiday was celebrated in Serbia in 2001, it was removed by Parliament only in mid-November of the following year.
