World AIDS Day is celebrated this year under the motto "Discover your status". On this occasion, all interested citizens can view and test HIV on Saturday, December 1st at the Belgrade Public Health Institute (Bulevar despota Stefana 54a). The tests will be done on the 4th floor from 8:00 to 13:00, the statement said.
This year, the world is celebrating its 30th anniversary around the world, in order to draw attention to the importance of the HIV pandemic for public health and to show international solidarity. For a long and qualitative life with HIV, the most important is that the infection is detected in time and that treatment begins.
The treatment of HIV infection in Serbia is modern, free and accessible to all patients. Data from the HIV / AIDS registry of the Belgrade Public Health Institute show that the largest number of infected people are registered every year in Belgrade. In addition, a significant percentage of infected people discovers an advanced infection, which carries a higher risk of AIDS and death.
It is estimated that about a thousand people in Serbia still do not know that she is infected. The goal of UNAIDS for 2020 is 90-90-90. Diagnose HIV in 90% of the estimated number of people living with HIV, provide treatment for 90% of HIV-infected patients, and reach undetectable viral activity in 90% of patients treated. If the risk can not be avoided, it is extremely important to check your HIV status as soon as possible. Therefore, once again, the importance of HIV testing is emphasized, which should always be accompanied by advice, adds the statement from the City Public Health Institute.
