The European Commission penalized Gugl's internet browser with 4.3 billion euros for violating anti-monopoly rules for the use of the Android operating system .
This is the largest sanction ever imposed on the competition rules by the European competition authorities and represents an important message from the European Commissioner for Margrete Vestager competition. In part of yesterday's decision, the commission announced that Google was using Android, which is free and used on three quarters of smartphones in Europe, to unfairly reinforce its dominance in Internet search over its competitors.
