German archbishop Georg Genswahn visited Michael Schumacher in 2016 and he has now spoken about what the seventh Formula One champion felt and watched at that time.

At the end of December 2013, Schumacher was the victim of a skiing accident in the French Alps and serious injuries to the head.

The helmet that he had on his head saved his life, but he could not prevent injury.

He spent six months in a coma, then was released for home care where he is now.

The family, and especially his wife, Korina, does not allow any information on the status of a famous driver to reach the public, so the media often deals with speculation.

"I sat next to him, took both his hands and looked at him," said the 62-year-old Catholic leader.

"He feels that there are people around him who love him and take care of him, and thanks to God they keep the curious people away," Genswan said.

The archbishop also said that Schumacher was "more full in the face, but his appearance did not change".

On January 3rd, Schumacher will be 50 years old.
