An estimated 3,500 people living with HIV in Serbia. A third of them do not know that he is infected because there is no health problem.
Danijela Simic from the Serbian Institute of Public Health "Dr. Milan Jovanovic Batut" states that the youngest person who suffered from Side this year is 23 years old and the youngest has died at 31 years old.
"Last year, about 180 people found out that they were HIV-positive and 55 patients in Side and 14 died. These statistics can be much more favorable if people who have risky behavior, all of them have sex. First, unprotected sex is being tested on HIV, "said Simic.
It appeals to citizens who have risked behaving for tests.
"The tests are available all year long in one of the institutes or institutes.Tomorrow, they will be available at the Municipal Institute of Public Health, at the Institute for the Protection of Students from Zrenjanin, Kraljevo and Sremska Mitrovica, "said Simic.
He points out that it is very important to detect the virus in time because the disease, he says, does not have to be life-threatening.
"There is a therapy, drugs, it is only important that the diagnosis is made as soon as possible, preferably six months after the potential risk, and that people are treated as they choose life," says Simic.
He adds that the virus is most often diagnosed in people aged 20 to 49, a third of young people aged 20 to 29 who have recently been diagnosed with HIV infection.
He adds that 90% of the virus has unprotected sex and that men are at a much higher risk.
