The German giant Vollswagen has stopped selling the base version of the seventh generation GTI Golf because it does not meet the new WLTP emission standards for harmful gases.
Since VW is already working on the eighth generation Golf, scheduled for next summer, it is difficult to expect the VW to adapt the current GTI to the new standards.
Only the most powerful version of the Golf GTI Performance with 241 hp and an acceleration of 0-100 km / h in 6.2 seconds is available, with a starting price of about 32,500 euros.
As with the other sports versions of the group, the VW and its subwoofers have adjusted their performance so that Porsche, Audi and Seat vehicles meet WLTP standards.
So, for example, Seat Leon Cupra lost 10 horses due to new filters, and the power of Golf R for a new exhaust system.
Meanwhile, VW is working on another special sports version of the GTI with the TCR label, which will be released at the end of the year with 286 hp and 370 Nm.
The new hot-hatch will have a jam standard differential, a seven-stage automatic dual-clutch, and will retain the front axle.
