Despite the tremendous growth in global crossover and SUV trends, Mitsubishi continues to sell its Mirage city car in Europe, better known as Space Star.
It is announced that the Japanese manufacturer of the new generation of models introduced in 2012 will prepare for the year of the year, but as a whole new model in the new category.
Japanese media announce that the new generation of Mirage will grow and become a sub-compact krosover.
Mitsubishi sees Mirage as a worshiper in the competition of popular urban carpenters like Peugeot 2008, Hyundai Kone and Nissan Juki and Renault Captura.
Since Mitsubishi is now in alliance with Nissan and Renault, it makes sense to expect Mirage to be built on the same platform and technology as Juke and Captur.
As for the drive, Mirage should have a small 0.9-liter turbocharger of 94 hp, but could also find a 1.5-liter diesel four-cylinder.
If Mirage is successful in the market, there is no doubt that it will get additional aggregates, including an electric version.
Japanese media reported that Mitsubishi was also interested in the sports supermini, which would be a competitor of Suzuki Swift
