A physiotherapist (35) from Serbia and her assistant (29), also a Serbian citizen, were arrested in the town of Ditikon in northern Switzerland because they were suspected of illegally injecting patients with botox.
According to Swiss media, a Serbian "doctor" was arrested Wednesday in his office at a time when a woman injected the substance against facial wrinkles.
No license
– The Serbian woman and her partner had no license at all for aesthetic treatments. The investigators were shocked to learn that a physiotherapist was working with botox. What was even more shocking was knowing that her assistant was not even a physiotherapist. Local media added that the Serbian woman and her assistant had been interrogated.
– The conversation first took place with the suspects, then the search of the space in which they worked. The investigators concluded that the arrested persons did not have the appropriate licenses to use medical instruments and medical products, and that they were neither cosmetic surgeons nor dermatologists. They have, as has been established, exercised a medical activity in Switzerland without a work permit. The arrested woman could not get permission to work in Switzerland, but it was not an obstacle for her – write to the media and note that she illegally performed a medical job for a long time, without taking care of the patients' health.
– Her patients were mostly richer women, who wanted to scratch the wrinkles of the face and neck. The police checks how many patients have undergone undesirable treatment and if any of them presents complications. If the instruments and facial correction products are not handled properly, it can result in major complications, even deaths, depending on the media source.
Unknown substances
It is also alarming to note that the investigators have not yet determined the substances that this "doctor" has injected to women. According to Swiss media sources, preparations used under the Therapeutic Products Act would be illegally imported into Switzerland.
– A Swiss citizen (34 years old) was provided by a Serbian woman and her assistant. The police interrogated her. The authorities continued to remove all medical supplies from the medical office suspected of being illegally imported into Switzerland, a Swiss press correspondent said.
He added that, as part of the investigation into the illegal injection of anti-wrinkle wounds in patients in Switzerland, the Federal Customs Administration had been involved in determining where the suspect botox was imported.
