A document published by the US Patent Office shows that Samsung has granted a patent for a 3D face scanner camera that can be used on mobile devices
Although Apple's first company, popularizing this technology as Face ID for iPhone X, a patent application that dates back to 2014, shows that Samsung has been working on this technology for some time. The release of a 3D scanning device before a patent is granted would be possible, but Samsung still seems to work to improve the technology in order to be commercially available in the products in the future.
The patent includes a number of functions including
The system would add two new hardware elements to the front of the camera: a virtually infrared light source and a biometric camera, while two new modules could be handled internally received information. The front camera would also be used to provide information on the view of the user, whether it is open or closed, and that the user is wearing glasses.
It is theoretically possible to implement the technology mentioned by Samsung in a new Galaxy Note9 ] but nothing that has happened on the phone so far suggests that this will happen. This suggests that the first phone with the Samsung 3D scanning camera will almost certainly Galaxy S10 .
