The union leaders of the Union of Education Workers of Serbia, SPRS "Nezavisnost", the Serbian Union of Education and the Union of Workers of his Education decided to demonstrate before the Government on December 11 and to strike in a legal framework, with short 30-minute lessons. Education workers are demanding a 14.6 percent increase in salaries, as promised in previous negotiations with state officials.

– Our expectations are relative, because we all discussed with officials, but they ignored the promises. In addition to the salary increase, we wish to continue working on groups and pay classes, as well as on the creation of a new special collective agreement. The current ECP was extended last year, even though we were opposed to it, explaining that payment groups and ranks will be created, "Danas Jasna Jankovic, president of the education workers union, told Danas.

Asked about the reaction of the members and the fact that the energy of the strike was spent, she said that "each union will evaluate what it will do," declaring that it "means that he is aware of what is happening "and" that he can not and does not want to be tacit ".

Slobodan Brajkovic, president of the Union of Education Workers in Serbia, stressed for Danas that it was not easy to motivate teachers to go on strike, but that this education would raise no protest and that the unions did not want to stop.

Representatives of the representative unions of education were received yesterday by the chairman of the education committee, Mouamer Zukorlic, in front of the Serbian Parliament, but this conversation has ended without concrete results.

– He said that he supported us, that our salaries should be more important, but that the committee was not competent for this problem. We listen to it from all authorities, but nothing changes. And with the announced salary increase of nine percent, teachers will again be behind all other activities funded by the budget. The current average salary of the novice teacher is 47,774 dinars. With this increase, it will reach about 52,000 dinars – stresses Brajković, adding that, according to the evolution of the situation, the trade union authorities will decide if the strike in the schools will continue after December 11th.

Appealing to young researchers

Belgrade – The Ministry of Education has announced the invitation to the participation of 100 talented young researchers in scientific research projects implemented by accredited scientific research organizations in the ongoing research cycle.

Researchers who have started PhD studies during the 2018/2019 academic year are eligible to participate and the call will be open until December 15th.

In previous calls for projects funded by the Ministry of Education, more than 840 new researchers have been included and, for some, this process is still ongoing due to the complexity of the profession selection process.
