Serge Ibaka of the Raptors and Marquese Chriss of the Cavaliers expelled after a fight

For a match between the second best and the second worst in the NBA, this has become interesting.

The Cleveland Cavaliers not only faced the Toronto Raptors – they were leading 91-77 at the end of three quarters – two of their big key men were physically engaged.

While remaining 1.0 second in the third quarter, Serge Ibaka of the Raptors and Marquese Chriss of the Cavaliers were both speaking after a pass on a full field, hoping to beat the buzzer to end the quarter. After Ibaka fell to the ground, he quickly got up and pushed Chriss from behind. The two men then punched each other before Ibaka moved away.

Ibaka and Chriss were quickly ejected after the fight.

While both players were undoubtedly disciplined for their roles in the fight – although Chriss just defended himself, the Raptors will be the most affected. Not only did Ibaka initiate the fight, they also play for seeding in the playoffs. The Cavaliers have nothing to lose as they play for the draw.

We will keep you informed as soon as information becomes available regarding Ibaka and Chriss disciplinary fines / suspensions.
