WWE hosted its Fastlane pay-per-view evening in Cleveland on Sunday night, the last stop on the road to Wrestlemania. Serge Ibaka and Marquese Chriss were a day late and are probably facing the most tired trope of the fight: the suspension of a character.
Late in the third quarter, Ibaka and Chriss got entangled in the transition. Ibaka fell to the ground and Chriss had to say something that Ibaka did not take well. Ibaka got up, pushed Chriss and the two men engaged in a prolonged physical altercation. Full punching was launched, some seeming to land despite the incoordination of the entire scene before their teammates and officials managed to separate them.
Both players have been ejected and will surely face suspensions now. Ibaka has a history of altercations like this one with the likes of Robin Lopez, Blake Griffin and James Johnson. He was suspended three times as Raptor. That will probably be part of the league's decision …
