Sergino Dest injures hamstring in USMNT win over Jamaica

Barcelona full-back Sergino Dest appears to have suffered yet another injury on international duty after being forced out of the way in USMNT’s World Cup qualifying victory over Jamaica.

Dest started the 2-0 victory at right-back and collected an assist as they knocked out 18-year-old Ricardo Pepi for the opening goal in the 49th minute.

Pepi added a second just after the hour mark to secure a second straight qualifying victory for Gregg Berhalter’s side who face Panama on October 10 and Costa Rica three days later.

It’s not clear if Dest will be available for either of these games. He was taken out after 77 minutes of the game against Jamaica after experiencing hamstring discomfort, according to Catalunya Radio.

Barca will also sweat on Dest’s fitness with big games against Valencia, Dynamo Kiev and Real Madrid coming immediately after the international break.

Dest has filled the left-back well recently for Barca, but is expected to return to the right with Jordi Alba back in great shape and Alejandro Balde also back in training.

Oscar Mingueza took over from Dest on the right in the final game and could continue if the American is forced to stop due to injury.
