Netflix and King Features Syndicate, a division of Hearst Entertainment and Syndication, offer the hugely popular independent platform game Copper to the streaming platform with the new animated series The Cuphead show!
Copper, developed and published by studio independent studio MDHR, launched in 2017 and acclaimed by mass criticism. The game features hand-drawn animations inspired by classic Fleischer cartoons from the 1930s (and also offers a daunting challenge for players). The game has sold over 4 million copies and won the Best Independent Game Award at the 2017 Game Awards and a BAFTA Games Award for his music.
The new animated comedy will develop the characters and the game world, centered on the titular hero Cuphead and his brother Mugman, who enter into a pact with the devil in a strong game.
C.J. Kettler (Carmen Sandiego) will run produce for King Features while Copper The creators (and brothers) Chad and Jared Moldenhauer will be the executive producers of the MDHR Studio. The series will be produced by Netflix Animation and will be produced by Dave Wasson, winner of the Emmy and Annie Awards. (Short Mickey Mouse). The Cuphead show! marks the first animated series production of long series for King Features (which also owns the rights to the properties of popular comics such as Popeye, Garfield and ArchieSince it announced its strategy to build character franchises on multiple platforms in February.
Copper is the latest video game to be adapted to the small screen, as a result of previous announcements of a series of live action based on The witcher come to Netflix later this year a Halo series in production at Showtime, an adaptation of the movie Ubisoft Bones of the skull and a film and television world built around the video game Myst in the works at Village Roadshow.
