“Do you go to Fox and tell them you want to do this, and they’re all for it?” Kimmel asked. “Yeah,” MacFarlane said. Taken aback, Kimmel replied, “Interesting. “It’s very polite of them,” MacFarlane joked. “I’m not quite sure what … look, they’re two halves of the same person.” It’s Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
MacFarlane also spoke about how he sees the dichotomy between the news side of Fox and the entertainment side.
“You see on the news side, they’re obviously in, you know, their fantasy fairyland,” MacFarlane said. “And then you have the entertainment side of it which is like, ‘Okay, we’ve got to exist with these people, so let’s be political and make the best of it.'”
Given his clear view of the conduct of some at Fox, MacFarlane joked about why he felt the need to do the PSA.
“I looked around and saw everyone at Fox Corp. doing their part to spread the word about good science and be responsible for their platforms,” MacFarlane said, “and looking at the barrel of that kind of peer pressure, I said that right so we have to do something too.
