CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Police in Cedar Rapids have arrested several men in a shootout that injured three people.
Police were dispatched on Saturday, July 31 at 1:44 p.m. to the 1900 block of Bever Avenue SE with a report of a disruption involving a firearm. Initial reports indicated that the disturbance was between two men and that one of the individuals had a gun. Early reports indicate that this was an incident between two men, one armed with a gun.
Police arrived at the scene to find three victims who had been shot and wounded. A 27-year-old man identified as Darius Lamel Howard-Brandon, a 36-year-old man identified as Jeremy Dell Hepker and a 25-year-old woman suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
Hepker and the 25-year-old woman were transported to UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital by the area ambulance service. Both were treated and then released. Howard-Brandon suffered a scrape and will later be evaluated at the hospital.
Several arrests took place after further investigation.
Lamar Lamont Brandon, 45, was arrested for possession of a firearm, possession of an intentional weapon and intimidation with a weapon. Howard-Brandon was arrested for Going Armed with Intent. Hepker was arrested for arming himself with intent and intimidation with a weapon.
It is still an active investigation.
