South Korean Promotion Battlefield FC is again in turmoil as several fighters on their second card in July are still waiting for the promotion to be paid.
A similar problem appeared in the first map of Battlefield FC in 2017, with famous fighters such as Sarah Kaufman and Jessica-Rose Clark competing for the series, but not paid later. It took a little over a year for the promotion to finally pay the fighters, who were naturally unhappy with the long wait to get their money.
The second map of Battlefield FC, which took place in Macau on July 27, is currently in the same situation.
The show was filled with notable names, including Gleison Tibau, Will Brooks and Bryan Caraway, several veterans of the UFC, who have still not received any payment from the event .
"No, I have not been paid yet," Brooks said, addressing MMA Fighting. "I think four or five of us have still not been paid. My management did a great job staying on top of them, but it made us race in circles. All I can do is leave my direction to charge it.
Tibau was stuck in the same situation after accepting the main bout against Brooks after UFC veteran Abel Trujillo was removed from the card.
"That's bullshit, man," said Tibau, who was to be paid $ 50,000 for his victory over Brooks. "My manager calls them every day. Sometimes they answer, but not always. They ask us to stay calm, say that they will pay us, but they do not say when. I took the fight at the last minute, spent money in my camp, and that is what happens. I do not even like to remember that because it pisses me off. I do not know what to do. "
Brooks, Tibau and Caraway are not the only fighters to wait yet to be paid.
In the initial part of the map, Wagner Prado officials Julio Cesar Neves, Kaik Brito and Vanessa Melo told MMA Fighting that they had not yet received their payments. Neves, Brito and Melo had to win $ 5,000 each, and Bellator veteran Neves had a $ 14,000 bursary.
"We went back to Brazil and said we would be paid after the 20th, but they still did not pay anyone," said Prado, who chose not to reveal his salary. "My manager contacted them but they did not answer anymore."
Prado believes that he was "robbed" by the judges that night, scoring a draw against Doo Hwan Kim. To make matters worse, the UFC veteran has torn the ACL and the right knee meniscus and needs to be operated on. According to Prado, this injury prevented him from fighting for the title against Tomasz Narkun at KSW 50 on Sept. 14.
"These guys should no longer be allowed to do events," Prado said. "I am outraged."
Bruno Miranda and Ricardo Tirloni have had a bit of luck and have been paid by the promotion, have confirmed their directors at MMA Fighting, but Tirloni still has some money to receive.
"(Neves) and Tirloni have paid themselves a few fees at the hotel and should be reimbursed for this," said director Marcelo Brigadeiro. "The matchmaker answered us a week or two, but then he said he was fired by the promotion and sent us Mr. Lee's number. I made contact with him and he said he would pay 'Morceguinho' (Neves) soon. Tommy Yang, the matchmaker, told MMA Fighting that he had been fired by the promotion a few days after the event. Battlefield CEO Yong Woo Lee did not respond to several requests for comments.
"We attended a disorganized promotion that no longer cared for athletes," said Bernardo Serale, manager of Prado and Brito, adding that he was to be reimbursed $ 500 for Brito's medical bills.

Brooks added that the entire event was a disaster since the arrival of the first fighters in Macau.

In an interview with TheBodyLockMMA.com, veteran referee Steve Perceval had previously revealed that he had withdrawn from the protest after failing to get payment for the promotion before his departure by plane. The main fight ended after Tibau had sought a choking guillotine upright. Brooks was pushed against the cage and the referee dipped a few seconds later to stop the fight. Brooks immediately protested because he had never tapped or lost consciousness, but the fight was stopped anyway.

For his part, Brooks tries to do everything to let his management team manage his Battlefield FC payment while focusing on his return to the immediate game.
